Sunday’s Socamaloo

On Sunday, it wasn’t hard for soca lovers to choose between going to two of the most exciting soca events — Bacchanal Road March and Red Stripe BOLD Socamaloo held at the Keycard Beach Village in New Kingston. Imagine the beach the brought the city of Kingston, complete with sand, palm trees and beach umbrellas and as expected many revellers chose Socamaloo as their after road march party and lyming spot.

The event featured dancehall’s King Beenie Man who, as usual, was a crowd pleaser — especially for the female fans who screamed and gyrated, palance and hung on to his every word. The selectors of Renaissance disco also help to bring the party vibe to the table playing a host of soca hits.

Red Stripe Brand Manager Safia Cooper says that a lot of thought and planning went into the event and she is extremely satisfied with the results. “Our aim was to add that special element that was certain to entice the revellers to be a part of. We also wanted revellers after partying on the road for an entire day to maintain that party vibe at Red Stripe BOLD Socamaloo and we acheived just that,” Cooper said.

Red Stripe BOLD Socamaloo is a series of parties which began on March 28, will climax on April 25.

She was definetly feeling the Socamaloo spirit.
An entire day of marching and gyrating in the city at Bacchanal Road March did not prevent these revellers from dancing up a storm at Socamaloo.
Communication Consultant Naomi Garrick (centre) and her BFFs came out to party.
