Saturday Hustle
R&B crooner and Red Stripe Star performer Usher has been a staple on the music scene for more than 15 years, and here are the tracks we’re anticipating at tonight’s Reggae Sumfest.
My Way
This track from the album of the same name, which was released in 1997, features a confident Usher boasting about stealing another man’s girl.
Nice & Slow
“It’s seven ‘o’ clock on the dot, I’m in drop top cruisin’ the streets,” were the opening lines to one of Usher’s most popular songs. This ubiquitous track can arguably be credited as the singer’s coming of age tune.
You Make Me Wanna
Usher makes the age-old story of loving someone else seem sexier on this track.
U Got It Bad
The second single from Usher’s 2001 album 8701 sees a love-struck persona pining over falling head over heels. It didn’t hurt, too, that the singer had been dating Chili of the girl group TLC and that helped to push the single.
Yeah
Usher enlisted the ‘crunktastic’ skills of rapper Lil’ Jon on this club-ready track and even gave a shout-out to the Jamaican street dance Thunder Clap.
Confessions Part II
With rumours that he had a love child on the way, Usher put out Confessions and pop culture soaked it all up.
Love In This Club
This track represents the new Usher, as there’s a heavy reliance on electric guitars and a nod to the more dance-friendly tunes that now rule the airwaves.
OMG
Usher’s latest hit single features Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am and fuses house, rock and ‘hip-pop’ to create a club-ready number.
