2 Central Village men charged
POLICE say they have charged two of five men detained in an operation in Central Village, St Catherine, as they move to cool a long-standing feud in the community.
“One of them was charged for murder, and the other for absconding bail,” Deputy Police Superintendent Barrington Daley, anti-crime boss for the St Catherine South Division, said this morning.
The others were released, he added.
The operation spanned from yesterday afternoon into this morning, and follows last week’s shooting of five persons in the community.
Meanwhile, police say they are to question one of three suspects in that incident in the presence of his attorney this afternoon.
“After that interview we’ll know whether or not to lay charges,” said Daley.
Police say the men in the community have been at each other’s throats over work on a housing scheme in the area.
