Hairdresser accused of killing her kids’ dad remanded
THE case involving a Kingston hairdresser, who is accused of killing the father of her children after he ended their relationship and married another woman, was yesterday postponed for mention on Wednesday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.
The matter was rescheduled because the 28-year-old accused, Simone Fowlin of Mahoe Drive, Kingston 11 — who is currently in police custody — was not brought before the court.
Fowlin, who was remanded in custody, is charged with murder resulting from the June 27 killing of Giovanni Francis with whom she had three children.
According to court documents, on the day in question at about 8:30 pm the accused and Francis had a dispute on Mahoe Drive. Fowlin is alleged to have used a knife to stab Francis in the left side of his chest. He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he died.
The prosecution said that the dispute resulted from an ongoing conflict that Fowlin had with Francis and his wife since their marriage.
It is alleged that Fowlin would often contact Francis’s wife by phone and abuse her verbally, using expletives.
However, Fowlin’s attorney, Diane Jobson, denied the allegation.
Jobson told the court on a previous mention date that her client acted in self-defence when Francis attacked her with a knife.
She also denied that the dispute was as a result of Francis’s marriage. According to Jobson, her client had no problem with the marriage and was willing to share Francis.
