Woman found dead on beach
The Portmore police are confirming that the body of an unidentified woman was found at a beach in the Hellshire area about 6 pm yesterday.
The body, believed to be in the mid-thirties, is of dark complexion, medium build and about 165 centimetres (5 feet 5 inches) tall. It was clad in a pair of blue shorts, green blouse, and a pair of black slippers.
The body was later removed to the morgue for post-mortem.
The Portmore police are investigating.
LIFEGUARD DROWNS IN THE OCHO RIOS HARBOUR
Andrew Habit, otherwise called ‘Stew Bob’, a 20-year-old lifeguard of Main Street, Ocho Rios, St Ann, reportedly drowned in the Ocho Rios Harbour on Saturday, August 7.
Reports from the Ocho Rios Police are that Habib, who was a tour guide, was accompanying snorkellers in the Harbour about 3 pm when he got into difficulties and disappeared from the group. He was later found by the police and taken to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations are continuing.
HOMELESS WOMAN PERISHES IN FIRE
The Cross Roads police are reporting the death of a homeless woman who was burnt in a fire in Union Square, Kingston 5 about 3:30 yesterday morning.
The woman, known only as ‘Birdie’, is of dark complexion, slim build and about 4 feet 6 inches (142 centimetres) tall.
The police and a unit from the Half-Way-Tree Fire Station, were summoned to the area after receiving reports of a bar being engulfed in flames.
The fire was extinguished, after which the woman’s charred remains were found among the rubble and removed to the morgue for post post-mortem.
The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained.
The Cross Roads police are investigating.
