Entire Student Loan Bureau board resigns
THE chairman and board of the Students’ Loan Bureau have resigned following a meeting with Minister of Finance Audley Shaw earlier today.
Chairman Andrew Cocking and his fellow board members submitted their resignations to Shaw, which he accepted, after they met this morning to discuss the audit report into the SLB submitted by the Public Accountability Inspectorate Division of his ministry.
SLB executive director Lenice Barnett was fired yesterday.
The names of a new Board will be submitted to Cabinet on Monday for its approval.
Director of the Credit Unions Department of the Bank of Jamaica, Monica Brown, has been seconded to act as replacement for Barnett until a new executive director is appointed.
Brown holds an MBA with distinction from the Nova South Eastern University, and a BSc in Economics and Management from the University of the West Indies. She has worked with the BOJ since 1973 and has been Director of the Credit Unions Department since 2003.
