Police report confirms American Idol winner Fantasia tried to commit suicide

A North Carolina police report reveals that American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino attempted to commit suicide by taking an overdose of sleeping tablets and aspirin. The 26-year-old was taken to hospital after she was found slumped in her closet at home in North Carolina on Monday night.

Fantasia’s father, Joseph Barrino, spoke about his daughter’s overdose from his home in Greensboro, North Carolina. “She’s doing fine,” he told Radaronline. Fantasia’s spokesman, who called police, said: “She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time. Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon.”

The overdose came after the performer was named in a divorce petition following an 11-month relationship with a married man.

Paula Cook alleged that Fantasia’s relationship with her husband Antwaun ended her marriage, claiming she had intimate video footage of the two together. Fantasia denied parts of Cook’s allegations, saying she was not responsible for ending the marriage.

After photos emerged of her with Cook, her spokesman Brian Dickens said Fantasia was “heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused”. Speaking after her overdose he said she was “overwhelmed with the lawsuit and the media attention”.

In a statement he added: “Fantasia has always been an open book. Honesty, self-respect, and personal responsibility are values she wears proudly. She believed Mr Cook when he told her he was not happy in his marriage and his heart was not in it. She believed him when he told her he and Mrs Cook separated in the late summer of 2009. She believed Mr Cook when he told her he lived elsewhere.” Fantasia was the winner of the third season of American Idol, she went on to win eight Grammy Awards and her third album, Back To Me, was released last month.

Zsa Zsa Gabor Released From Hospital

Zsa Zsa Gabor returned home on Wednesday to recuperate after being hospitaliSed at the UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center since July 17 for a broken hip, her husband said.

Prince Frederic von Anhalt, the 93-year-old actress’ eccentric partner, told reporters gathered outside their Bel-Air mansion overlooking Los Angeles that Gabor is glad to be back. ”She is at home, and she is happy,” said von Anhalt. ”She smiled already and started flirting with the guys who took her home. When she starts flirting, she is in good shape. She’s not a young chick, she’s 93 years old. This time, she was scared. We have been married 24 years. She’s been in the hospital a few times, but she was never scared. She always smiled and said, ‘Don’t worry. Everything is going to be OK.’ She was scared because of her age and the big operation,” he said.

The Hungarian-born, glamour-loving actress’ condition deteriorated after she underwent hip-replacement surgery after she broke her hip while trying to get into her wheelchair. Gabor, who has had to use a wheelchair after a 2002 car accident and a 2005 stroke, was originally expected to spend one week in the hospital but ended up being there for four weeks.

An ambulance followed by a police escort and led by von Anhalt arrived at the gates of their Bel-Air home early Wednesday evening.

Kanye to return to VMAs a year after Taylor Swift diss

A year after his infamous outburst at the MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West will return. The rapper is scheduled to perform at the show on September 12 in Los Angeles. Last year, he dissed Taylor Swift at the event, grabbing the microphone from her as she accepted the award for best female video and saying Beyonce should have won it. His remark of ”I’m ‘a let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time” received a blizzard of negative attention. West later apologiSed and took a hiatus from music. He will release his fifth studio album, Dark Twisted Fantasy, in November.

Lady Gaga leads this year’s VMAs with 13 nominations.
