Techie’s Night Out… Take 2

Fashion’s Night Out is just two weeks away and it’s important to consider what bargains you’re looking for… Thursday Tech gives you a rundown of the hottest deals and where to find them.

Amazing Deals

Charles Heholt, Amazing PC director, is excited that Fashion’s Night Out means parents and university students alike can use the five-hour shopping opportunity to gain great deals on back-to-school consumables.

“It’s a great idea and it means all your tech needs in terms of laptops, printers, jump drives and the like can be yours at competitive prices,” Heholt shares with Thursday Tech, adding that his two Kingston branches (26 Hagley Park Road and Upper Manor Park) will be participating.

“Amazing PC will be discounting selected items up to 70 per cent off,” Heholt shares, noting that his store carries all major brands.

He lauds the Jamaica Observer for introducing the Fashion’s Night Out concept to Jamaica.

“It’s great that tech purveyors are included too, because what’s more fashionable than going back on campus with cool new gadgets?” he poses.

If cool includes the Acer Aspire for J$62,688.27; the HP Compaq NC6230 $41,725.80 and the IBM ThinkPad for $35,531 with the promise of even lower rates for FNO, then Amazing PC might just be on to something.

“We will be slashing prices and will have lots of great deals, it will be a big sale,” Heholt assures.

There are lots of accessories to be had, too, from stylish laptop sleeves (featuring intricate patterns and designs) from as low as $500, surge protectors and the Apple iPod Nano for $20,538, an array of digital cameras and BlackBerry housing, among other things.

Techie ZTE

With Digicel set to offer customers 14 free days if they sign up for a 14-day prepaid plan and 30 extra days for those who sign up for a 30-day prepaid plan as part of its Fashion’s Night Out deal, it’s a great time to look at the ZTE netbook available through the telecoms provider. ZTE V60 is a Chinese machine that is 4G Broadband compatible. This netbook fully supports Microsoft WINDOWS 7 operating system.

The tiny, sleek netbook weighs around 2.5 pounds and fits comfortably in a bag… it’s screen is roughly 7.5 in diameter.

The ZTE netbook offered through telecoms provider Digicel.
