Police launch manhunt for Hanover witness
MONTEGO BAY, St James — The Police have launched a manhunt for Clayton Hylton of a Burnt Ground address in Hanover.
” He is a witness in a case that is currently before the Montego Bay Circuit and over the last year we have make several attempts to contact him,” Detective Inspector Paul Bernard told the Observer West.
“We have visited his home several times, called his cell number; contacted relatives…….. but we just can’t find him,” he added.
It is allegedly that Hylton witnessed the murder of his friend and narrowly escaped death during an incident in St James almost four years ago.
According to Inspector Bernard on the night of November 27 2006, Hylton and his friend Anthony Kentish were attacked by Rohan Williams and Davin Mc Pherson, during a dispute at Mc Pherson’s home in the Anchovy area.
It is alleged that Hylton and Kentish were badly beaten and shot by the duo.
The injured men were then reportedly taken to Wales Pond, St James, where they were further beaten and shot.
Inspector Bernard said Hylton managed to escape during the ordeal but Kentish succumbed to his injuries.
Williams and Mc Pherson were subsequently arrested and charged with murder in connection with the incident.
Inspector Bernard told the Observer West yesterday that since the case began almost two years ago, Hylton has made only one appearance in court.
The matter is again set for mention on September 16.
