Food aid for marooned eastern communities
THE Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) and the Jamaica Red Cross and the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) will continue with its welfare management with the distribution of approximately 300 food packages to marooned communities in the eastern region of Jamaica.
The communities of Westphalia and Robertsfield of Kingston and St Andrew, Penlyne Castle, Hagley’s Gap and Minto of St Thomas and Omealley in St Catherine are expected to receive the food packages by Sunday. Packages include non-perishable items such as rice, flour, canned food to name a few.
ODPEM is also accepting donations, which at this time are limited to bottled water and non-perishable food items. Donations are being collected by ODPEM at 2-4 Haining Road in New Kingston.
