FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Boys’ Town extended Village United’s woes, beating them 2-1 in a Digicel Premier League match at Elliston Wakeland Centre yesterday to extend their winless run to five games.

Dean Thompson scored in the 11th minute and Michael Campbell in the 47th as the West Kingston-based club won consecutive games.

Orlando McBayne got Village’s goal in the 47th to give them hope under low, dark clouds that threatened to release showers.

It was the second straight loss for Village coach Christopher Russell, who took over from Marvin Tate for his second stint with the club in two seasons.

Oliver Trail had the first chance when he dribbled through the Boys’ Town defence and his left-footer from just inside the box went wide in the seventh.

Three minutes later at the other end, veteran goalkeeper Elvis Hart made a brilliant fingertip save from the left channel. But he had no answer to Thompson’s header a minute later as the ball that was swung from the right side of the field ended in the far corner.

Hart made yet another save in the 13th , this time after a defensive error allowed Campbell to shoot at goal from close range, but the goalkeeper managed to keep the ball out.

Village kept pressing for the equaliser and in the 23rd, Dino William’s shot from close range came back off goalkeeper Kirk Porter’s chest and out of Graeme Green’s reach.

Village’s persistence was rewarded in the 37th when McBayne got to a ball ahead of Porter and defender Anthony Dawes and stabbed into the unprotected net.

Campbell then skidded a free-kick between Hart and his near post two minutes into the restart.
