Cornwall hunt another basketball double
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Cornwall College will this afternoon seek successive doubles in the ISSA Western High Schools Basketball League when they take on Holland High and Maldon at Montego Bay Cricket Club today.
Cornwall, the defending Under-16 champions, are coming off wins on Monday’s opening day over Spot Valley in both the Under-19 and Under-16 sections.
Today, they will face Holland in the junior section and Maldon in the seniors.
Another double-header will be played today at Rhodes Hall, where the home team will take on Muschett High in the Under-16, while Mannings School and Muschett will square-off in the Under-19s.
Herbert Morrison Technical were also winners on Monday, coming from behind to beat Holland in the Under-16s, while their Under-19 game against Maldon was postponed.
In the Under-16 game, Herbert Morrison came from behind to beat Holland, who had replaced William Knibb on the schedule.
Holland led 13-12 after the first period, but were outscored 33-14 over the next two as the home team took a 45-27 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Daniel Henry was the top scorer with 30 points, 13 rebounds and eight steals, while Romario Clarke and Anphernee Wilson scored eight points each.
Clifton Sheetworth had 15 points for Holland and Gian Grey 10.
At MoBay Cricket Club, Cornwall beat Spot Valley, 59-16, in the junior section and 69-52 in the seniors.
