Real friend
Dear Editor,
I wish to pay tribute to Gregory Isaacs who had a unique nasal style of singing which drew a lot of admiration from thousands of fans throughout the world. He had more hits and manners than many of the so-called stars who parade themselves to the public.
I remember Gregory and his long-time friend, Shudley Thomas of West Kingston, where they both grew up. Shudley became ill and was bedridden. After finding out about Shudley’s ill health, Gregory gave instructions for someone to look after him around the clock and footed the bill. Gregory did this for months until Shudley got better. Such was the icon Gregory – a friend indeed.
