Holland bounce Spicy Hill from Trelawny KO
GEORGIA, Trelawny — Spicy Hill SC, last season’s runners-up in the Trelawny/Dr Patrick Harris Knock-out competition, were knocked out 1-0 in the first round by Holland United at Georgia on Sunday.
Cornwall College schoolboy Nickyle Webber scored in the 89th minute for Holland United against the team which took part in the All-Island Federation’s Champions Cup KO last season.
Meanwhile, promoted Preston FC created an upset, beating Clarks Town 2-0 at Hyde to book their place in Friday’s draw for the second round.
Jerry Hines scored a double, netting in the 20th and 52nd minutes for Preston, last season’s Division One champions, to book their second round spot.
Classic United and Heat Wave booked first-round places after wins in Thursday’s play-offs.
Classic advanced after Prospect Link failed to show for their game at Blackwin, while Heat Wave scorched Jackson Town 2-1 in a come-from-behind win at Bounty Hall.
Leovanni Downer gave Jackson Town the lead after 14 minutes, but Calvis Grey in the 30th minute and Sheldon Shirley in the 68th carried Heat Wave to victory.
Heat Wave were scheduled to face Western Super League team Harmony in a first-round game at Bounty Hall yesterday, while Rio Bueno hosts Flames at Rio Bueno.
Today, Exidos and Duanvale will meet at Friendship, while Digicel Premier League team and five-time winners Village United take on Dromilly at the Elliston Wakeland Centre.
