Mt Pelier blank TP in Western Super League
BICKERSTETH, St James — Mt Pelier FC moved into second place in the Jamaica Football Federation’s Captain’s Bakery and Grill Western Super League on Sunday after a surprise 2-0 win over Tomorrow’s People at the Bickersteth Community Centre.
The Hanover club moved into a four-way tie for first place after Seba United, Catherine Hall and Wadadah, who went into the round with back-to-back wins, all drew their games played at Jarrett Park.
Catherine Hall and Harmony were goalless as were Seba United and Russia, while Wadadah and Granville drew 1-1.
Curtis Palmer scored in the 49th minute, his third goal in as many games to give Wadadah the lead before Andrew Allen replied for Granville in the 80th minute.
Granville ended the game with 10 players after Oniel Pringle was sent off for violent conduct.
At the Bickersteth Community Centre, Oliver Bright in the 22nd minute and Delroy Smith in the 84th scored for Mt Pelier as they moved two places up the ladder, pushing Catherine Hall to third and Wadadah to fourth places, respectively.
Frome FC also moved two places up the points tables after their last-gasp 1-0 win over last-placed and winless Exidos at Friendship.
Kemar Gordon’s 90th-minute goal gave Frome their second win of the season to move them into fifth place.
The game between Bamboo and Cousins Cove was not played as the referees got to the venue late and the game is to be rescheduled.
