Riotous Wil returns for Christmas Comedy Cook-up
Haitian/American stand-up comedian Wil Sylvince is looking forward to his third trip to Jamaica after he was well-received on his two previous Christmas visits to the island.
He will be joining Barbadian veteran Trevor Eastmond on the bill to add an international flavour to the 7th annual staging of Christmas Comedy Cook-up scheduled for the Wyndham Kingston Ballroom on December 26.
Sylvince is described as one explosive comedic entertainer who has appeared on BET’s Comic View, HBO Def Comedy Jam and Showtime at the Apollo.
Born and raised in Brooklyn of Haitian heritage Wil has honed his act in New York’s top comedy clubs – the Comedy Cellar, Comic Strip Live, Caroline’s on Broadway, Stand-Up NY and the Gotham Comedy Club.
His unique perspective on political and social issues, with a twist of his West Indian Hatian culture makes Wil a comedian in high demand and he has been handpicked by comedian heavyweights Damon Wayans, DL Hughley, Chris Tucker, Kat Williams and Bill Bellamy to tour the country.
When not touring with other comedians, Sylvince is a wanted commodity at US college campuses. His versatility to work clean as well as edgy, make him one of the nation’s top booked college comedians. He also has exceptional comedy writing skills, and his writing has been used and featured on The Fugees’ album The Score and Wyclef’s The Carnival. He was also a contributor to The Chapelle Show on Comedy Central and Damon Wayan’s The Underground.
The event will close what has been a very successful year for the indomitable duo of local Comedy Ity & Fancy Cat. Their weekly sketch comedy show on TVJ has enjoyed raved reviews and is currently in preparation for a fourth season. Other performers include Dr Michael Abrahams, Leighton Smith, Kathy Grant, Rozah Roze and award-winning dancing sensation Shady Squad
