Keen contest expected at today’s Tastee Talent Grand Finals
AFTER seven riveting months across the island, the curtain comes down on the 2010 Tastee Talent Trail at today’s grand finals at the Tastee Open Air Theatre in Cross Roads.
It will be the ‘Day of Decision’ for the remaining six contestants vying for one of the three cash prizes totaling $1.3 million.
A combination of texting and judges scorecards will determine who will take the top honours from the field comprising singers Shelly-Dean Bartley, Jermaine Bryan and Lorna Gordon; deejay Andre Lee; dance group Supreme Blazers and dub poets COLAS.
If the three elimination shows — the last of which was two Wednesdays ago — were anything to go by, then the high-profile panel of judges consisting of actress Audrey Reid, host of the hit Sports Commentary on TVJ, Oral Tracey, and media personality Amelia ‘Milk’ Sewell, will have a challenging time deciding who will walk away with the grand prize.
All in all, it promises to be one of the most keenly-contested and exciting Grand Finals in the history of the 30-odd-year-old talent search that has given birth to some of the finest talents in the local music industry.
The trail so far has kept that tradition alive, and what is now left is the icing on the cake.
This year’s talent series is sponsored by Tastee, Pepsi, Breezes, Claro ( exclusive mobile providers), TVJ, RJR 94, RE TV, Hits 97, Supreme Ventures, Kosmo Car Rental and the KSAC.
