Sharon Tucker drops In Your Time
SHE began the year with the single Give A Little Love, designed for everyone to get to know her better as well as to spread the joy of loving one another. Now Sharon Tucker is ending the year with the release of her third album In Your Time, a 15-song package which includes the single with which she started the year as well as some previous releases and fresh material.
“This is my third album…and it means everything to me because it’s mine, it belongs to me, the chirpy entertainer said about her latest project, which features contributions from the musicians and producers including Sly and Robbie, Robbie Lyn, Dean Fraser, Steve Golding, Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith, Sticky Thompson, Christopher Birch and Oba Simba.
Decorating the product is a bevy of female singers — Aisha, Leba Hibbert, Althea Hamilton, Dorrette Wisdom, Melissa Benjamin Simpson, Nelly Stharre and Nina.
In spite of the inclement weather, a handful of friends, family members, musicians and artistes were on hand at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in Kingston last Thursday to give it their blessings. It may well prove to be Tucker’s best effort in this time, if not for all times. A casual listen to tracks Coulda, Give A Little Love, her own compositions It’s Gonna Be Alright, the heavenly Dream, not to mention the title track, will affirm that the album should live up to its billing.
One thing for certain, her years spent providing harmony on recordings and on stage for a host of top Jamaicans artistes such as her brother Junior Tucker, Dennis Brown, Mykal Roze, Tony Rebel, Judy Mowatt and Ini Kamoze were not in vain. Even though the songs have different themes, In Your Time, as the title indicates, the album is one of inspiration. That it contains a bonus extended offering of the title track makes a fitting note on which to end.
