CLARENDON PARK, Clarendon — Sporting Central Academy rallied from two goals down to edge Village United in a seven-

goal spectacle at Brancourt yesterday and boosted their chances of clinching a place in the Digicel Premier League second-end-of-round-final.

Shavar Campbell’s well taken penalty in the 12th minute and Lance Laing’s deflected free-kick had put Village in pole position after 50 minutes.

But Levaughn Williams’ quick-fire double, Gregory Lewis’ tap in and substitute Damarly Samuels’ near post grounder, between Campbell’s second spot kick, handed Sporting a thrilling 4-3 win.

The result means that the Clarendon outfit have now picked up 17 second-round points, which took their overall tally to 30 for fifth place.

Village, who were losing two games on the trot, have now played themselves back into the danger zone on 21 points, just two ahead of Humble Lion, who edged Benfica 1-0 at Drax Hall courtesy of a Roberto Fletcher first-half strike.

This now sets up a potential dogfight between Humble Lion and Village when they meet at the Effortville Community Centre on Wednesday.

In another early game, goals from Horace James in the 43rd minute and Romeo Parkes in the 59th carried cellar dwellers St George’s SC to a 2-0 blanking of former champions Reno FC at Lynch Park.

The Portlanders improved to 14 points, but stayed at the bottom, while Reno remained on 24.
