MONTEGO BAY, St James — THE Jamaica Customs Chorale — Montego Bay branch — brought the spirit of the holiday season to the baggage hall area of the Sangster International Airport on Monday, rendering a number of carols — much to the delight of visitors to the island and airport staff.

“We thought that it was a good idea to do some carroling because it would help us as co-workers to bond together and showcase our talent, as well as to spread the message of the Christmas season,” said choir director Jacinth Mighty.

The group which consists of roughly 40 members was officially launched in 2000 under the leadership of Naomi Goulbourne-Riley.

“We have performed at church services to commemorate International Customs Day, concerts, funeral services as well as social gatherings and at charitable events,” Mighty said, adding that the group meets for rehearsals on first and third Mondays.

The chorale which is dominated by females was the main feature at the recently held Concert 2 cure at the West Jamaica Conference in Montego Bay and the St John’s Methodist Church Fundraising concert.

The group has shared stage with a slew of singers including Karen Smith, Khall and Audley Scott.

Monday’s performance at the airport included well know carols such as Joy to the World; Little Drummer Boy, Christmas a come mi want mi lama; mek the Christmas ketch you in a good mood; Away in a Manger and Jesus: what a wonderful child.
