Jazz in the Gardens celebrates 10th Anniversary Sunday

JAMAICA Pegasus will celebrate 10 years of staging Jazz in the Gardens on Boxing Day, December 26 with the best of Jazz in the Gardens for 2010.

Since the year 2000, Pegasus Hotel is widely regarded as the home for Jazz in Jamaica. It has earned this reputation because 10 years ago, the management of the hotel created the country’s most accomplished and respected venue for the jazz experience.

The bi-monthly concerts on the lawns of the Pegasus called Jazz in the Gardens, has now become a staple of choice on the menu of local entertainment. And for good reason. In this its first decade, Jazz in the Gardens has set the trend of featuring a slew of highly respected local and international acts in the jazz idiom.

The series has proven to be a winner, as combined with the alluring ambiance of the garden-like setting of rich protective vegetation of the cool venue, generated countless nods of approval among patrons.

“This is our 10th anniversary, so 10 years ago, what happens is the Garden was there and was under utilised,” explained hotel manager of the Pegasus Hotel, Nancy McLean who was instrumental in the creation of the bi-monthly musical fare.

The best of Jazz in the Gardens 2010 will feature international acclaimed artiste and musicians Dean Fraser, Robbie Lyn, Boris Gardener, Dennis Rushton, Karen Smith plus Dean Barnett and Patricia Edwards formerly of Ebony.
