More playing time doing world of good for Jordan
INCREASED playing time for Jamaican seven-footer Jerome Jordan, who plays for Serbian team Hemofarm Stada, has begun to pay dividends as after 12 games he is the best two-point shooter in the Adriatic League, boasting 83.33 per cent accuracy.
The 24-year-old Jordan, a past student of Jamaica College, has scored 35 of 42 two-point field goal attempts to top the league, ahead of the Czech Republic’s Jan Vesely of Partizan (30 of 41 two-point field goals) for 73.17 per cent accuracy and Serbian Marko ?erasimoviç of Igokea (16 of 22 attempts) for 72.73 accuracy.
Drafted to the Milwaukee Bucks before being traded to the New York Knicks at last summer, Jordan is averaging 12 minutes and seven points a game.
Adriatic League champions in the 2004-2005 season, Hemofarm are in eighth place and will play away to fourth-placed Slovenian team Krka on Boxing Day in a bid to halt four consecutive defeats.
With two more back-to-back away games and on a losing streak, Hemofarm are trying different strategies to get back on track and hope their seven-foot Jamaican will deliver.
Jordan is averaging 60.9 per cent at the free throw line, converting 14 of 23 attempts. In the league the Tulsa University graduate has moved up to 84 points, including a season-best 19 points in a home match on November 20.
The Jamaican centre has grabbed 36 rebounds and added six blocks, though committing 24 and receiving 17 fouls.
The regular season of the Adriatic League for Hemofarm ends on March 15, having already been eliminated in the second round of the Euroleague and finished third in Group B of the Eurocup.
