Holland, Seba progress to islandwide KO tourney
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Trelawny Football Association’s Major League team Holland United HH and Western Confederation Super League side Seba United of St James won their respective knockout finals on Thursday and qualified for the Jamaica Football Federation’s All-Island Knockout.
Romaine Lewis’ second-half goal gave Holland a 1-0 win over Palmento United at the Elliston Wakeland Centre and the Dr Patrick Harris Knockout trophy.
Lewis scored in the 64th minute as Palmento, who had knocked out five-time winners Village United in the second round, finished with 10 players after Beneto Lawrence was sent off.
At Jarrett Park, Jermie Bucknor continued his goalscoring resurgence by scoring in the 60th minute for Seba to edge Senior League side Revelation FC 1-0 for the Captain’s Bakery Knockout title.
Bucknor has scored both goals in Tuesday’s semi-final 2-1 come-from-behind extra-time win over fellow Super League team Catherine Hall, and carried over his form to the final.
Seba take the $100,000 first prize and the trophy as well as the berth in the first round of the all-island KO.
