Portsmouth, Black Lion for Major League round final
SPAINSH TOWN, St Catherine — Portsmouth joined Black Lion in the end-of-first-round final of the LIME/St Catherine Major League despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Royal Lakes at Lime Tree Grove on Sunday.
Ramon Carty gave Portsmouth what appeared to be an 81st-minute winner, before Lester Warren popped up with the equaliser for Royal Lakes in stoppage time.
Portsmouth, however, held on to book their place in the incentive final on 19 points.
League leaders Black (26) had secured their spot some two matches earlier.
In the other game, Dunbeholden moved up to third on 17 points after first-half strikes from Dwayne Peters and Najeek Brown carried them to a 2-1 win over DB Basovak, for whom Gregory Miller scored a consolation.
In Division One, Fraziers Whip turned back Invaders 2-1 to maintain their one-point advantage at the top. Ricardo Whyte and Aaron Lynch were on target for Fraziers in the first half, while Devon Hamilton netted for Invaders late on.
Action in the Major League continues with three games today, all starting at 3:00 pm.
Rodwood meet Wanderers at Waterford High, McCook’s Pen host Spanish Town Police, while Cumberland play away to Albion.
