Cornwall on the hunt in Western Conference
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Cornwall College, leaders in both sections of the ISSA/KFC Western Conference basketball league, will be striving to prove their form was no fluke when they seek to advance to both finals at the Montego Bay Cricket Club today.
In today’s semi-finals Cornwall will face Rhodes Hall in the Under-16 section and Spot Valley in the Under-19. They beat both teams by wide margins in the preliminary rounds.
Tomorrow, defending Under-19 champions Herbert Morrison will face Mannings School for a place in the finals after Trelawny schools Holland and Muschett meet for a place in the Under-16 final.
The semi-final format sees the winners of each section playing the fourth place teams while the second and third pace teams will meet.
The top two schools from the Western Conference will automatically qualify for the national play-offs.
The finals will be played on a best-of-three format, starting next Tuesday and continuing Thursday and then Monday if necessary.
Cornwall College , the defending Under-16 champions, topped the Under-16s with 18 points, followed by Holland on 17, Muschett on 16 and Rhodes Hall with 15 points.
In the Under-19 section, the Montego Bay school led with 19 points, followed by Herbert Morrison – 18, Mannings – 17, and Spot Valley – 14 points.
