Jamaican-born author launches Mirror to the Mic magazine
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaican-born author, transformational speaker, and media founder Jenelle Simpson has officially launched Mirror to the Mic, a new global quarterly magazine designed to amplify authentic voices, with a powerful foundation rooted in Caribbean identity and lived experience.
Created under the Life’s Deceit brand, Mirror to the Mic is not just a publication—it is a platform built to challenge silence, confront truth, and create space for healing across generations. Born in Jamaica and raised in Canada, Simpson’s journey is one of resilience, transformation, and purpose. With Mirror to the Mic, she brings that journey full circle—creating a space where Caribbean voices are not only included, but centered.
“This is deeply personal. I come from a culture where strength is often worn in silence. This magazine is about breaking that silence. It’s about giving voice to the stories we were taught to hide,” Simpson said.
The publication reflects the realities, strength, and depth of Caribbean people, while connecting those stories to a wider global audience.
The first issue of Mirror to the Mic features a powerful mix of storytelling, reflection, and editorial content, including:
- Women Who Rise — celebrating women overcoming generational and societal barriers
- Community Voices — anonymous, real-life stories that reflect shared human experiences
- Mic Drop Moments — impactful insights from featured voices and leaders
- Healing Grounds — tools and reflections rooted in trauma-informed healing
- Style & Legacy — exploring identity, presence, and cultural expression
Each section is intentionally designed to reflect both the depth and the dignity of the stories being told.
To mark its debut, Mirror to the Mic will release a digital edition available worldwide and a limited Collector’s Print Edition of only 100 copies. Once sold out, the print edition will no longer be available, making it a historic first issue for readers and collectors.
The magazine expands on the impact of the Life’s Deceit Podcast, where Simpson has built a reputation for hosting deeply honest and transformative conversations. Through both platforms, she continues to create spaces where truth, healing, and personal growth are not only encouraged—but required.
