The annual New York Top 100 Hits of 2010, compiled by broadcast journalist Clinton Lindsay, has been released, and embattled reggae artiste Buju Banton, sits in the coveted No1 position with A Time And A Place.

Produced by Lloyd (John John) James, Jr, the song stayed the longest time in the top spot (six weeks) than any other during the tracking period January 6 – December 29, 2010. A Time And A Place stayed on the weekly chart for a total of 28 weeks. Coming into the second spot is Gyptian’s crossover hit Hold You which spent four weeks at No1. After several years off the chart, Lovindeer made a big comeback in 2010 with his economic parody IMF which landed in the No 3 spot on the end-year compilation.

Brooklyn-based Ed Robinson also made a huge comeback with his tribute to some of the heroes of Jamaican music. His hit Our Heroes, placed him in the No 4 slot. In at No 5 is actor/singer Peter Lloyd’s Searching which has become his biggest hit to date.

Rounding out the top ten is Feel Good All Over Sanchez at No 6. Shaggy’s Long Time at No7. The veteran Leroy Sibbles with Harry Hippie takes the No 8 position. The combination of Shaggy and Alaine with For Your Eyes Only came in at No 9.

From his Grammy-nominated album Before The Dawn, Buju Banton’s Innocent has the No 10 spot. Innocent is currently the No 1 single on both the NY and South Florida singles charts. The New York Reggae chart is the longest running ethnic chart in North America.
