Seba, Wadadah seek berths in incentive final
GREEN ISLAND, Hanover — St James clubs Seba United and Wadadah could secure their places in the end-of-round final of the JFF/ Captain’s Bakery Western Confederation Super League by avoiding defeats in the 10th round of games in the first round.
Seba United, who lead with 23 points, play away to last-placed Cousin’s Cove at Green Island High, while Wadadah — who are a point behind — meet Catherine Hall in a St James derby at the UDC field.
Frome FC, the only other club in with a chance of making it to the incentive play-off, will face Russia FC in an all-Westmoreland clash at Bay Road.
Frome are on 17 points and have a game in hand.
Seba, the only unbeaten club left in the competition, should be able to get the better of the Hanover club who are rooted at the bottom of the table.
Seba, who have the best attacking record with 22 goals and best defensive record with two goals conceded, will be led by the joint topscorer
Kemar James and Jermie Bucknor, who have combined for 15 goals so far.
Wadadah should get the better of a badly faltering Catherine Hall, but will need to improve on their finishing in front of goal.
Despite dominating their last two games against weaker oppositions, Wadadah wasted numerous scoring chances.
Catherine Hall, who started the season with a bang, have slipped to eight place on 11 points. They won the first two, then drew the third game, but have managed just four points in six games and have been outscored 10 goals to two over the period.
Curtis Palmer has scored 10 goals for Wadadah and will spearhead their attack, along with Damion Reid, who has scored five goals.
Russia have lost their last three games and turned up with just 12 players against Wadadah on Sunday, and Frome should be able to get the better of them.
Mt Pelier are coming off a loss to Seba on Sunday but will start favourites to beat Exidos despite playing away from home.
The improving Granville, unbeaten in the last three games, will host Harmony at Sam Sharpe Teachers College in what should be a good game, while Bamboo and Tomorrow’s People will meet at Bamboo.
