Johnny Dollar heads to Rebel Salute
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Veteran crooner Roland Burrell is scheduled to stage his come-back to the entertainment when he appears on Rebel Salute 2011 tonight at the Port Kaiser Sports Complex in St Elizabeth.
The seasoned performer is remembered for songs such as Johnny Dollar, Stormy Night, Rip Off and his rendition of Freddy McKay’s Picture on the Wall.
After a two-decade hiatus from the music arena, Burrell who is now under the umbrella of new management Montego Bay based Hensley ‘Lenny’ Cameron of Bonfire Inc Limited, is currently putting the final touches to a new album that is expected to be released during the first quarter of this year.
“The album is partially completed we only have just two tracks to be laid,” Cameron told the Observer.
Since returning to Jamaica nearly three years ago from the US where he focused on family matters, Burrell has been creating a stir. He recently gave a sensational performance at the Rock River Splash in Clarendon alongside other veterans Pad Anthony, Lone Ranger and Little John. He was equally impressive when he appeared in Cambridge Fest last year.
Buoyed by the singer’s recent showing, Cameron is assuring the patrons that the seasoned entertainer will deliver at Port Kaiser Sports Complex Saturday night.
“Patrons should just come out and expect a full 15 minutes of exciting performance,” a confident Cameron expressed.
