Family row leaves one dead, another in custody
A dispute between two relatives in Shirhampton district, Manchester yesterday, left one man dead and another in police custody.
The dead man has been identified as 37-year-old Joel Howell, a farmer of Shirhampton district in the parish, while the name of the relative who is now in police custody is being withheld pending further investigations.
The Cottage police reported that about 1:15 pm, an altercation developed between Howell and the relative. The dispute escalated into a fight and during the fracas, a knife was used to stab him. The police were alerted and he was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The relative accused of killing Howell was later caught by residents and handed over to the police.
Detectives from the Christiana Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) are investigating.
