Deejay fined for possession of weapon
Deejay Blak Ryno was on Thursday slapped with a $4,000 fine for possession of an offensive weapon stemming from an alleged incident in which is he was accused of assaulting Vybz Kartel’s business partner Corey Todd.
The entertainer whose real name is Romain Anderson, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to the charge before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court. If the fine is not paid he will serve 30 days in jail.
Blak Ryno was also charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, however, the charge against him was dropped after Todd decided not to pursue the matter.
In a similar move the artiste’s girlfriend, Aneka McDonald, has also indicated that she no longer wishes to pursue the assault charge against Todd’s wife, Shemara.
Blak Ryno was arrested and charged following an alleged fight with the businessman on September 30, 2010, at MegaMart Wholesale Club on Waterloo Road in Kingston while Shemara Todd was charged after she allegedly got into a fight with the deejay’s girlfriend moments later.
According to the police statement, the entertainer and Todd reportedly got involved in a fight after the deejay allegedly issued death threats to the businessman.
During the fight, Ryno reportedly pulled a knife at Todd. However, Todd only suffered a bruise to his back.
Following the fight, McDonald reportedly went into the supermarket to search for her boyfriend’s jewellery, where it is alleged that Todd’s wife attacked her and used her fingers to inflict bruises to McDonald’s face and neck.
According to Todd’s statement, the entertainer attacked and accused him of not playing his songs in the nightclub — The Building — where Todd is a manager.
