Portland 5K run on today
THE Portland National Health Fun Run 5K race and walk will get underway today at 3:30 pm at Folly Road through the town via the Errol Flynn Marino back to Folly Oval for its second staging.
Race director Alfred Francis said, “There will be no cash awards this year, but there will be a new category for the Primary/All-age schools in Portland.
“We have a foreigner who participated last year and will be returning for the event this year. The course is a good one and we expect a number of athletes to participate from this section of the island.”
Last year’s female champion Twishana Williams of GC Foster College will be back to defend her title, but at press time, it was not clear if Shawn Pitter will be defending his men’s title.
