Barbican cop lion’s share at Women’s awards
BARBICAN FC topped the JFF/Sherwin Williams-sponsored 2009/2010 Women’s Football competitions and dominated the award and prize-giving ceremony at the JFF Headquarters in New Kingston on Tuesday.
The Charles Edwards-coached Barbican not only walked away with the major awards for the Women’s league and KO divisions, but also copped a number of individual prizes in both competitions.
The highlight of the ceremony, however, was the award by Sherwin Williams of two scholarships valued at $35,000 each to Ashley Saddler and Ornella Gray for high academic performances.
Both players are members of the Constant Spring team which failed to finish in the top four in either competition.
