US Major League Soccer team Houston Dynamo, the Observer has been reliably informed, has bought national defender Jermaine Taylor from Digicel Premier League outfit St George’s Sports Club of Portland.

A figure of his purchase was not disclosed as there are still some loose ends to be tied, but Taylor, who should have left the island for Texas on Sunday, will now leave today or tomorrow to complete the signing with the American soccer club after the formality of doing his medical.

News surrounding the deal is still sketchy, as St George’s Club president Everton King remains tight-lipped on the matter, saying that he could only talk to the press on Wednesday or Thursday.

Be that as it may only a failure of a medical by the player, the Observer was apprised, could ruin the deal.

Taylor, 26, was seen by scouts from Houston Dynamo at the Digicel Caribbean Cup last November-December, where he assisted Jamaica to win the tournament by demonstrating that he was a truly fine defender.

A quite level-headed and gifted player, Taylor emerged one of the outstanding players throughout the tournament which was held in Martinique, an overseas Department of France situated in the Eastern Caribbean.

A former National Under-20 captain who also played for Star Cosmos and Digicel Premier League outfit Harbour View, Taylor failed to land an overseas contract last year after a trial at US Major League Soccer team DC United, but now looks certain to fulfil his ambition of plying his trade overseas.
