Floral Pomander or Kissing ball

Do it Yourself

A floral pomander, or kissing ball as it is sometimes called, is a great decorating piece for weddings, birthday parties or even in your home décor. You might have seen these hanging at weddings as decorations on chairs or in trees, on pergolas or shepherd hooks, or maybe even carried as a bouquet by bridesmaids. If it’s something you can’t readily find to purchase, you can do-it-yourself by buying a bunch of faux flowers and creating the look of the pomander you want.

For this project you will need:

o A bunch or two of faux flowers of your choice.

o Two yards of matching ribbon.

o A styrofoam ball in the size you want.

o Glue gun or pins.

You will then:

o Attach ribbon securely around the ball, leaving long ends at the top for hanging.

o Glue flower heads individually to the ball, making sure they are placed closely together to completely cover the ball.

o Do this until the ball is completely covered.

Voila! Your own kissing ball.

NB: You can insert a few leaves, beads or other accents between the flowers for added colour or texture and take this project to another level. Have fun with this one, and good luck!

Glue flower heads individually to Styrofoam ball.
