Education Minister Andrew Holness
February 24, 2011
Please, Minister Holness
Dear Editor
This concerns children who have failed the Grade 4 literacy test. Most of them fall in the “almost mastery” category. I believe the minister of education should allow students in this category to sit the GSAT.
It is unfair for them to be registered and then be denied the opportunity to take the test. If they fail, they could be placed in vocational centres.
I appeal to the minister to allow them to sit the GSAT, since parents have spent time and money on extra lessons to prepare them for this exam.
Please, Mr Minister, relieve the pressure on parents, teachers and students by allowing the students to sit the GSAT.
