Seba eyes the bigger picture
MONTEGO BAY, St James — AFTER wrapping up their third Jamaica Football Federation’s Captain’s Bakery and Grill Western Confederation Super League title with four games to go, Seba United is now looking ahead to the start of the Confederation play-off for a place in the Digicel Premier League next season.
On Sunday, Seba United edged Wadadah 1-0 in their return round game at the UDC field for their 16th win in 18 games this season and improved to an unassailable 50 points at the top of the points’ table.
Seba will now await the winners of the other three Confederations for the two spots that will be available in next season’s top league.
The former two- time premier league champions will be seeking to return to the island’s top flight after a three-year absence.
Last season they finished runners up to Reno who then booked their place in the premier league.
A mid-season loss to Wadadah aside, Seba have dominated local competition this season, drawing the two games they did not win and scoring 46 goals while conceding just four.
In comparison Wadadah who are in second place, scored 30 goals in 17 games while conceding 5 after winning 10 games, drawing four and losing three including two to Seba.
On Sunday, an own goal in the 20th minute was the difference between the two teams as Wadadah battled all the way and pushed Seba to the limit.
