KSAFA suspends Stony Hill
STONY Hill FC have been suspended from the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA), while Tivoli Gardens’ home ground has been placed on probation by the Competition’s Committee.
Incidentally, both clubs faced the wrath of KSAFA last season after Tivoli failed to show for their Claro Champions League match against Waterhouse over branding rights, while Stony Hill used two ineligible players in the Under-13 competition.
This time around, Stony Hill faced the wrath of KSAFA after failing yet again to honour their fixtures in the Claro Major League and were suspended and will have to re-apply for affiliation.
The KSAFA Competitions Committee unanimously took the decision on March 22, after Stony Hill failed to show for their game against Molynes United — the first time they did so this season.
The struggling club was rooted to the bottom of the Major League on five points from 14 games and were sure to have been relegated.
They have won just once, drawn twice and lost 11 times, scoring only 10 times, while conceding a whopping 55 goals.
Meanwhile, the Edward Seaga Stadium has been placed on probation following a brawl during an Under-17 quarter-final match between hosts Tivoli Gardens and Waterhouse FC on March 19.
Waterhouse were leading 2-0 before the game ended prematurely due to an outburst by the Tivoli Gardens spectators.
The committee decided that Article 67.3 of the Jamaica Football Federation’s (JFF) Disciplinary Code will apply in this case.
The article states that: “Lack of discipline and order inside and outside the grounds before, during or after a match (invasion or attempted invasion by spectators, missiles throwing and other incidents).
a) Punishment: to a fine of a minimum of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) and a maximum of Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00).
b) Case of repetition may result in harsher penalties up to the maximum fine of Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00).
The KSAFA committee ruled that all three players, along with the officials who were a part of the brawl, should be referred to the Disciplinary Committee, the Edward Seaga Stadium placed on probation, game awarded to Waterhouse FC on a 3-0 score margin, fined $50,000 and also should provide adequate security personnel for all youth games at the said field henceforth.
