Police warning for Champs patrons
THE police have advised patrons attending the Boys’ and Girls’ Championships that they are prohibited from carrying weapons or certain other items inside the National Stadium.Related story:City’s security tightened for Champs
The championships started yesterday and continue to Saturday.
The banned items include: firearms, knives, drugs, ice picks, machetes, flag poles (over 12 inches), alcohol, umbrellas (walking stick type) large igloos (not exceeding 14′ in length, 12‰ in width and 8‰ in height), video or DVD recorders, frozen water bottles, lighters, glass bottles and any other item that can be used to cause serious harm or injury.
No provision will be made for the storage of prohibited or restricted items at the stadium. Licensed firearm holders are being advised to leave their weapons with the local police or make alternative arrangements for safekeeping.
All persons entering the stadium will be searched.
