Invaders blank Granville in Trelawny Major League
HAMMERSMITH, Trelawny — Invaders FC avenged a first round loss by beating leaders Granville FC 3-1 at the Carter Centre in Hammersmith in the Trelawny National Rums of Jamaica Major League on Saturday.
This was Granville’s first loss in the return round, but they are still leaders with 25 points, three more than second-placed Kinloss, who were held to a draw by Clarks Town on Sunday.
Omar Williams scored twice for third-placed Invaders, who led 2-1 at half time, netting in the sixth and 65th minutes, while Roxroy Hardy scored in the 19th minute.
Lionel Johnson got Granville’s goal in the 26th minute.
Kinloss had to come from behind to earn a point from their 1-1 draw with ninth-placed Clarks Town, who were given the lead in the first minute by Lupton Haughton.
Girvet Dixon levelled for Kinloss in the 30th minute.
Struggling Duanvale and Preston both scored 2-1 wins over Palmento and Jackson Town, respectively.
Leroy Brown and Anthony Gibbs scored for Duanvale in their come-from-behind win over Palmento, who were given the lead in the third minute by Karlton Drakes.
Beneto Lawrence scored in the 32nd and 40th minutes for Preston before Craig Young pulled one back for Jackson Town in the 87th minute.
Flames came from 0-2 down to draw 2-2 with Holland United on Sunday with goals from Renalto Scott in the 61st and Jonai Scott in the 72nd after Romaine Lewis in the fourth minute and Michael Bucknor in the 29th minute had given Holland a 2-0 lead at half time.
Spicy Hill, meanwhile, moved to 10th place on goal difference ahead of Jackson Town after beating last-placed Classic 3-0 on Saturday.
