Mother-daughter slaughter suspect charged
A man held in connection with the recent double murder of a woman and her daughter in Temple Hall, St Andrew has been charged with two counts of murder.
Obrian Brissette, a 27-year-old labourer of Temple Hall, was on Saturday charged for the May 5 deaths of Eucelyn Gordon, 66, and Topozion Gordon, 27, both of Rosemount District in Temple Hall.
Brissette, who was reportedly involved with the younger woman, is scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court this week.
According to police reports, on the day in question at about 2:00 pm, both women were at home in the company of Brissette when Topozion got a telephone call from a male friend.
Brissette and Topozion reportedly got into an argument over the telephone call and she left the house to visit the male companion.
It is further reported that when Topozion returned home she found an enraged Brissette, who was armed with a hoe, waiting inside her bedroom.
Brissette, in a fit jealousy, then reportedly used the weapon to inflict several wounds to the woman’s head, killing her on the spot.
Topozion’s mother reportedly intervened and was attacked by the accused who used a pickaxe to hit her several times in her head. She also died on the spot.
Following the incident the accused man, who reportedly tried to kill himself, then went into a nearby house a locked himself inside to escape an angry mob that had gathered at the scene.
Brissette, who was rescued by the police, was taken into custody.
However, according to the police, Brissette in his statement has not confessed to the killings but claimed that he hit Topozion with the hoe and shoved her mother.
