Shake, Shake, Shake
After having two kids, I have learnt many things from them, but one thing is for sure, DO NOT spend a lot of money buying toys for them. They hardly use them and quite frankly, they are more content with an old paper towel roll than with their toys.
As children, my sisters and I used to play a lot with the rattles that fell from the Poinciana tree, we used to call them “shake-shakes” or “bram-brams” and my kids are no different. On our little afternoon walks, the kids always end up playing with these fallen rattles, so it gave me the idea to decorate the rattles, using a little paint and creativity.
For the shake-shake you can: 1. Paint the rattle any way you choose; as a matter of fact, let the kids paint them; or 2. Recycle an old plastic bottle (preferably one with a neck) and fill it, seal it and decorate it. We glued torn pieces of tissue paper all over the bottle. This is quick, easy and so much fun for the kids. Why not try it?
