Campbell takes Audi National Amateur Golf title
FABIAN Campbell shot 75, 74 and 77 (226) to take the National Amateur Golf title despite stiff competition from Jamaica’s best amateurs at the Caymanas Golf and Country Club recently.
Lindy Bartley missed the title by a stroke but captured the Men’s category with scores of 69, 81, 77 (227).
Last year’s champion, Radcliff Knibbs, was second 230, while Matthew Smith was third with 231.
Men Nett winners were Sean Morris (218) and John O’Donoghue (218).
Rory Jardine captured the Senior’s title with 240 (84, 81, 75) strokes, two shots ahead of Wayne Chai Chong (83, 79, 80 = 242). Robin Chin finished third.
Senior Nett winner was Peter Chin with 222.
Gordon Hutchinson held off the competition to finish the day as Super Senior Champion. He closed the championship on 233 strokes, three strokes ahead of veteran golfer Dennis Atkinson (236). Fred Sutherland finished one stroke behind in third (237).
Super Senior Nett Winner was Maurice Foster (220).
Defending Women’s champion Jodi Barrow proved her mettle by successfully defending her title with rounds of 76, 74, 78 (228). Michele Gabay took the Nett prize with 261 strokes.
