Magano tackles the issue of abuse on single Never Be Your Child

REGGAE singer and one-time cabaret performer Magano has been impacting radio with her latest single Never Be Your Child.

The ambitious track tackles the issue of abuse.

In a recent interview, Magano explained the story behind the song. “It’s a song about women who are being abused or overpowered by men. I decided to choose a topic that people can relate to. This has been a burning issue needed to be highlighted,” said Magano.

Produced by Le-G-Nae Records, Never Be Your Child is the follow-up to Magano’s recent single Mama’s Pain which topped radio station Bess FM’s Top 10 chart.

For Magano, the musical journey has been a long and winding one. Born Andrea Sawyers, she spent most of her teenage years in Clarendon where she now resides.

Magano’s debut album is due for release later this year.

Jahdore hits the charts with This Love Is Over

Singer, songwriter and musical arranger JahDore has been creating waves with his current single,

the very poignant and thought provoking This Love Is Over. Produced by Andrew Myers for Heartcour Productions/Rountoun Music Production and UIM Records, the song has taken over the airwaves with a bang.

The track is a witty tale of a relationship gone bad. It tells the story of a man who has been faithful to his significant other and who makes sacrifices beyond the call of duty to keep his family together. However, in the short term, the flashiness and swag of another man, managed to

catch the attention of his significant other, thus ending their relationship.

JahDore’s early days in the reggae industry were spent touring Europe, the United States and other parts of the world with the likes of reggae superstar Jimmy Cliff and the musical messenger Luciano among others.

A saxophonist, he also plays the keyboard and piano.

“My ultimate dream has always been to write and sing my own music. Being educated at an institution, such as the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts was a way of learning the business from all the possible perspectives,” JahDore commented.

Over the past few months, JahDore has been working hard in the studios on various recordings for well-known producers and record labels. He has completed material for Head Concussion Records, Payday Music and Rountoun

Music Productions.

Right Man Fi Yuh rises on the charts

Singer Robert Minott’s latest single Right Man Fi Yuh has hit the local charts.

“It’s a joy knowing that when you put something together then introduce it to the people and they accept it. I feel very good about this song and I would like to thank radio for the support and the television stations for playing the video. The supported is appreciated,”

said Minott.

The song was produced by Kirk Bennett, whose track record includes Tek Weh Yuhself by Mr Vegas.

“Kirk was visiting Houston, Texas and we got together musically and were vibing when the idea for the rhythm hit me so I suggested it to Kirk and he put the beat together. After listening to the beat for a while, the lyrics of the song came right away,” Minott explained as the idea behind the song.

Former Irie FM Big Break winner, singer Prophecy has been charting with the track Body Bag. The song was recently number one on the Jamaica Music Countdown. It is also charting on the Caribbeanradioshow.com Top 30 chart. It is also riding high on reggae charts in Australia and Italy.

Over on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Adele spends her seventh week at number one with Rolling in the Deep. The track ascends from 79 to 66 on Billboard’s R&B Hip Hop Singles chart. Adele is the first white British female artiste to hit the Billboard R&B chart since Lisa Stansfield scored a handful of hits in the 1990’s with All Around the World, You Can’t Deny It, This is the Right Time and Dream Away.

Expect R&B singer Jill Scott to score her first number one album on the Billboard 200 next week. The album The Light of Sun could sell as much as 125,000 copies to take the number one spot. To date her best showing has been Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Volume 2 which peaked at number three in 2004.

Ziggy Marley has wrestled the number one spot on Billboard’s Reggae album chart from his brother Stephen. Ziggy’s album Wild and Free put a dent in the three-week reign at the top by Stephen’s Revelation Part 1. Elsewhere on the chart, VP Records’ Soca Gold 2011, the various artistes compilation set, debuts at number six.
