Krsytle Kerr chosen
LAST Sunday the Knutsford Court Hotel hosted the 31st annual Miss TEEN Jamaica Grand Coronation Show at the Knutsford Court Hotel. Friends and family member of the comtestants came out to support the 15 finalists as they vied for the title.
The show started with the opening dance performed by all the contestants. Then each finalist paraded in swimwear and briefly introduced themselves to the audience and the judges.
It wasn’t long before the girls came back on the stage individually to perform their talent pieces. Following the talent section the Untouchable Squad entertain the audience right before the intermission.
After the break the contestants took the stage in their evening wear. For this part of the night, the sectional prize for Best Gown was awarded to Sapphire Parkes.
Then while the judges chose the top ten finalists the audience was entertained with a musical medley by Kimberly and Giselle.
The contestants had various activities and sessions prior to the show, like an online poll, where the sectional awardees would have been decided. These awardees were fast-tracked to the top 10.
Thirteen-year-old Chrisshell Brissett walked away with the award for Most Cooperative. Krystle Kerr walked away with the awards for Most Intelligent, Most Eloquent and Best Christian Principles. It was hard for the judges to determine the Most Disciplined contestant, so the award was shared between Melissa Walker and Renee Allwood. The Most Cultural trophy was given to Janese Edmondson, while the prize for Most Talented was also awarded to Renee Allwood. Natalie Coke was rewarded Most Aware and Best Personality. The other girls in the top 10 were Sapphire Parkes, Barbara Bryan, Andrice Aslam and Sandra Aitcheson.
After the top 10 was announced the girls were all taken offstage while the MC, Sheldon Watson, asked the girls five preselected questions.
It wasn’t long before the judges decided who the winners would be: in fifth place was Barbara Bryan, in fourth place was Sapphire Parkes, the second runner up went to Nathalie Coke, first runner-up was awarded to Renee Allwood and Miss TEEN Jamaica was named as 16-year-old aspiring lawyer Krystle Kerr.
Though the show got off to a late start and finished the following morning, the 31st staging of Miss TEEN Jamaica was a success and we look forward to the next pageant.
