Pitter, Martin claim Hugo Chambers 10Ks

SHAWN Pitter of UNA and Arieta Martin of GC Foster College claimed the male and female overall events of the 24th National Hugo Chambers Memorial 10K Road Race and Fun Run along Old Hope Road on Sunday.

Pitter clocked 31:33 to finish ahead of Rayan Lawrence of MVP, 33:46, and Andrew Gutzmore of Ebony Seekbook, 34:26.

Martin posted 43 minutes 28 seconds for victory ahead of No Excuse Run Club’s Karlene Blagrove in a time of 45:33 and Tracy Tucker of Fun Runners in 59.04.

Alex Saunders of Kingston College topped the two-mile race for 13- to 19-year-olds clocking 10 minutes 12 seconds ahead of Duval Ashley of Wolmer’s, 10:21, and Sanjay Powell of KC, 10:23.

Duvaire Wauchope of Jamaica College, with 4:46, claimed the boys one-mile race, while the female equivalent was won by Chris-Ann Lewis of Gregory Park Primary in 5:08.

Adrian Lewis of St Mary’s College won the female equivalent in 10:32, while the Papine pair of Ikeda Stewart and Tiffany James in 12 minutes 18 seconds and 12:20.0 were next.

Nigel Davis in a time of 40 minutes 33 seconds and Andre Hendricks in 45:36.0 were first and second, respectively, in the Special Olympics 10K race.

The one-mile Special Olympics event went to Odain Taylor in 10:12, ahead of Davion Hyde, 10:44, and Kemar Jones, 13:28.

The top male and female high schools in the two-mile team events were Kingston College and St Andrew High with 30 and 62 points respectively.

Jamaica College won the overall 10K male high school team race with 15 points.
