Man shot dead in Dunbars River
MICHAEL Mullings, 29, of Dunbars River, Westmoreland was shot and stabbed to death at his home yesterday morning. Another man was also shot and injured in the incident.
The Savanna-la-Mar police reported that about 1:00 am Mullings and relatives were in bed at home when a man armed with a gun kicked in the door and opened fire, hitting Mullings and injuring one of his relatives.
Both men were taken to hospital where Mullings was pronounced dead, and the other admitted in stable condition.
Salesman murdered
TAYON Colomathi, a 30-year-old salesman of Mountain View Drive, Westgate in St James was shot dead by unknown assailants Sunday evening in Hampton district, also in the parish.
According to the Montego Bay police, about 8:35 pm Tayon was at a public meeting at a school in the area when he reportedly went outside to answer his cell phone. Shortly after, explosions were heard and Tayon was found lying on his back with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Firearm seized
A firearm was seized by the police Sunday morning in May Pen, Clarendon. No arrests were made in connection with the find.
The May Pen police reported that about 8:30 am lawmen were on operation in the vicinity of the Rio Minho when the weapon — a M1 Enforcer Rifle and a magazine, containing six .30 cartridges — were found. The serial number could not be properly identified.
