Jaii Frais retains Isat Buchanan in shooting case; makes first court appearance
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Popular podcaster Jhaedee “Jaii Frais” Richards has retained attorney-at-law Isat Buchanan after an incident that left him and two other people nursing gunshot wounds after carnival festivities Sunday night at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew.
Richards, who has been detained in connection with the incident, appeared in court on Wednesday after a remand application by the police to keep him in lockup without charge past the 48 hours stipulated by the law.
The application by the police was granted and Richards is set to reappear in court on Friday.
Buchanan told Observer Online that he requested that the matter be recalled and the judge ordered that Richards be taken to the hospital to have his gunshot wound treated because the lockup doesn’t have the facility to treat his wound.
“We await the completion of the investigation and all I can say is trust the process,” Buchanan added.
Three people, including Richards and a US citizen, were shot at the Big Wall after carnival party.
One of the injured persons is a member of the entourage of dancehall artiste 450 who was critically injured, but survived the attack.
