Love the skin you’re in
HAVE you ever heard the saying “the three things people look at when they first meet you are your nails, teeth and shoes. So you should ensure that they all look clean whenever you meet someone”? It seems to be a popular saying whenever one speaks about grooming.
However, one important element seems to be forgotten… your skin!
One of the major indicators to how well we take care of ourselves, the skin is one of our greatest storytellers.
Yet, it is often forgotten.
Oily skin is an issue that plagues many TEENagers, and unfortunately it is an issue that may follow you straight into adulthood. Oils tend to attract dirt, which leads to blocked pores, and in effect can cause the development of acne breakouts. It can also leave the person quite self-conscious and always worrying about how oily their face looks.
There are a lot of products available over the counter for the control of oily skins, but unfortunately many of these products do not always work. In addition to this, the expense of these products are most time is costly.
Considering this, there are some inexpensive and natural ways to get rid of oily skin and keep your skin looking clean and refreshed. Following certain procedures can provide effective skin care for oily skin, keeping your skin fresh and clean, whether you are male or female.
Here are a few tips that will help you take care of oily skin and make your face look less shiny.
1 The first thing to remember is that it is important to choose your skincare products wisely. Not all the over-the-counter products are right for your specific skin type. Some may leave your skin dry and irritated, which is the result of the product cracking and breaking the top layer of your skin. If this occurs, you should discontinue use.
2 Keep hydrated. Water is nature’s gift to man. Its benefits and uses are quite extraordinary for such a simple item. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water each day. Water helps flush out or removes toxins from the body.
3 Wash your face regularly with hot water and soap/facial wash. Try to choose a facial wash with some light soap and one that is free of artificial additives. This is important as it effectively removes dirt and excessive oils, while still retaining moisture. After washing your face, you could also use a face cream or moisturizer that is oil free and alcohol free so that your skin remains supple.
4 Use a facial mask. It is recommended that you use a facial mask at least once a week. Use your fingertips to massage your face with the mask in an outward and upward motion. Let the mask sit for a few moments and then wash your face. It has been proven to be very beneficial for oily skin. A good mask can be made using products that can be found around the home or are easy to get at your supermarket. Ingredients such as aloe vera, lemon, papaya, bananas, tomatoes and cucumbers have been found to help oily skin. Please note: not necessarily together.
5 Diet and exercise. The right diet supplemented by a good exercise regimen is great for not only your skin but also your body. You should consume a protein rich diet and reduce your intake of sugars, salt and foods rich in fats and oils.
6 Protect your skin. Shield your skin from the sun with the use of sunscreen. You should choose one that is a gel and not a cream. Also, blot away any shine that appears during the course of the day. Use blotting paper or carry around soft paper towel sheets to absorb the sheen.
