Calling Miss Jamaica Universe 2012
THE search to find Miss Jamaica Universe 2012 commences this weekend.
The promoters of this year’s pageant have organised a series of castings covering the three counties, ahead of the selection of a final bevy of contestants.
Come tomorrow, the pageant’s scouts will move into the county of Middlesex, and are encouraging potential contestants to attend the casting in Mandeville at the Belair School.
Young hopefuls are required to bring along photo identification, a two-piece swimsuit, high-heeled sandals, and are encouraged to wear little or not make-up.
The series of casting moves to the county of Cornwall on February 4 and Surrey on February 18. The venues for these castings are still to be decided.
The sashing of this year’s finalists is set for February 25.
Jamaica’s best showing at Miss Universe came in 2010, when Yendi Phillipps copped the first runner-up spot in Las Vegas. In 2011, Shakira Martin represented Jamaica at Miss Universe which was held in Brazil.
